Christians often get labeled as proselytizers in a negative way, meaning they seek to do nothing more with outsiders than convert them. In my mind this assumption is well deserved and largely true. I understand that connecting and leading people to our faith is part of the Great Commission but we see through Jesus’ example here on earth that showing genuine compassion and love for a person is the first step in this process.
I am sure Penn has experienced plenty of people handing him tracts and giving their argument for why there is a God and why he must change his ways. The person Penn discusses in this video however, was not one of those people. This person simply planted a seed and it is clear that Penn could see the man was genuine and sincere in his motives and was deeply touched as a result of the man’s actions.
My father used to always remind me that people don’t care how much we know until they know how much we care. This could not be more true when it comes to sharing our faith. If we learn to live by this thought only then will the world truly experience the love of Christ.
P.S. I need to thank JR for sending me this clip. Thanks bro.
